Zé Nando Pimenta

Zé Nando’s professional career began in 1998 in New York City, where he spent 2 years working with Arto Lindsay and Andres Levin, after graduating from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, in Boston.

In NYC from his base at Kampo Studios, he worked on albums such as Arto Lindsays’s “Prize” or Marisa Monte’s “Memórias, crónicas e declarações de amor”, regularly recording at other iconic NYC studios, including Sear Sound or the now extinct The Magic Shop.

In 2001, he decided to settle in Barcelona (before definitely returning to Portugal), form the disconcerting Zany Dislexic Band, record Type (his first personal project), set up a studio, and found Meifumado.

Perhaps because he is a gifted multi-instrumentalist with a solid musical vision, and because he feels just as comfortable with the various aesthetics of electronic origin as he does with acoustic music, Zé Nando Pimenta has a keen awareness of the myriad details of the production process.

From recording to mixing, he handles everything with extreme care and consistency. Whether it is the harmonic and timbre dimensions or the sonic properties, nothing is left to chance and perhaps that is why the records he signs often seem to belong to another league.

Zé Nando Pimenta is a Producer/Senior Engineer at Arda Recorders, where he has his private Mix Room.
